Most parents look at report cards.

  • They celebrate good grades.
  • They worry about low grades.
  • They check missing assignments.
  • They read teacher comments.
  • Those things matter.

But one of the most important questions often goes unanswered. What do those grades actually mean?

A report card can tell you how your child performed. It doesn't always tell you why they performed that way.

Sometimes a low grade points to a missing foundational skill.

Sometimes it's confidence.

Sometimes it's organization.

Sometimes it's simply adjusting to a new routine.

Understanding the difference is the first step toward providing the right support.

Maybe this sounds familiar...

Your child says school was "fine," but struggles when it's time to complete homework.

Maybe their grades don't reflect what you know they're capable of.

Maybe they seem frustrated, overwhelmed, or less confident than they used to be.

Maybe you're hearing different things from home and school.

Or maybe everything appears to be going well, and you simply want to stay proactive before small challenges become bigger ones.

No matter where your family is today, understanding what's behind your child's academic performance can help you make informed decisions throughout the school year.

Imagine Your Family Walking Away With...

✔ Confidence in recognizing the difference between a skill gap, a performance issue, and a routine adjustment.

✔ A better understanding of the warning signs that may indicate your child needs additional support.

✔ Practical questions to ask your child and their teacher to gather meaningful information.

✔ A simple framework for deciding when to monitor, when to intervene, and when to seek additional support.

✔ Greater peace of mind knowing your next step is based on evidence, not guesswork.

This isn't about labeling your child.

It's about understanding them.

During This Workshop, We'll Explore...

Meet your Host

I'm the Chief Educational Officer and Family Engagement Strategist at HUMBLE Tutoring. For the past 10 years, I've had the privilege of working alongside scholars, families, schools, and community organizations to help children build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and develop a love for learning.

Throughout my career, one truth has remained the same: Grades only tell part of a child's story.

I've worked with students who earned good grades but still had significant learning gaps, and I've worked with students whose report cards didn't reflect their true potential. That's why it's so important for families to understand what's happening behind the grades before deciding what support their child needs.

That's why I created this workshop.

My goal is to help you recognize the difference between a skill gap, a performance issue, and a routine adjustment so you can make informed decisions with confidence. Together, we'll explore the warning signs to look for, the questions to ask, and practical strategies for partnering with your child's teacher to support their academic growth.

Whether you're looking to stay proactive or you're concerned about your child's progress, I hope you'll leave this workshop feeling more confident, informed, and equipped to support your scholar.
